ALEiens Big Brew Day will be held on April 26, 2025
@ Iron Hill Newtown (2920 S. Eagle Rd Newtown, PA)
Set up between 8 - 9am, Mash in around 9:30am.​​
The Details
Pete and Iron Hill will provide:

Strike water ready at 75ºC / 167ºF

ALEiens will host a water consultation table where you can consult with Mike Grippi on water additions.

Calcium Carbonate, Calcium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate, Gypsum, Epsom Salt, Citric Acid and Lactic Acid will be provided.

Cold water for chilling post-boil
-
120v electric. Pete says they can only accommodate 6 electric brewers at a time. Set up early.

Yeast: AEB New-E (comparable to London III), Chico, Mexican Lager, 34/70
-
Up to 4oz of Galaxy hops for each brewer

A variety of hop samples provided by Yakima Chief Hops.

The 2024 varieties available below. This list will be updated when the 2025 hops arrive.

Your brewing equipment

Any other ingredients you want

Extension cords if electric​. Every brewer must be on a different outlet.

Propane if, well, propane.

Garden hose(s) for connecting to cold water hookups

Pop-up tent for shade

Clean, sanitized mason jar for yeast if not direct pitching.
The ALEiens Big Brew Competition
Like past years, ALEiens will be hosting an in-club competition around Big Brew Day. The rules are simple:

Brew any style you want.

Use yeast and some variety of hops provided by Iron Hill.​

​​Iron Hill ingredients must be picked up on Big Brew Day or coordinated with another member to pick up for you. They will not be available after that day.​​​

Entries are due at the July 29 meeting. The winner will be selected by Iron Hill to be brewed and served at the Newtown location!

NOTE: You do NOT need to participate in the
competition portion of Big Brew Day.
Just come out and brew!
